The Detmold Group value our people and strive to positively impact our local communities around the world. We sponsor a number of charities, initiatives and events throughout the year in the regions in which we operate. Some of our recent community initiatives include:
- University sponsorship in China.
- A hand-made bag business in South Africa.
- A charity bike ride raising money for Mind Australia.
A central part of the Detmold Group’s core value system is its people. We take our commitment to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees very seriously. Our facilities are constructed and maintained in accordance with the applicable codes to include clean drinking water, adequate ventilation and essential safety equipment.
We comply with all applicable national and local laws to ensure our staff have reasonable working hours, adequate time off and appropriate compensation for hours worked overtime. Anti-discrimination laws are strictly enforced at all sites.
Charity Bike Ride
Recently, a group of employees from the head office in South Australia, including the Detmold Group CEO, participated in a charity bike ride to raise money for Mind Australia. The money raised in the bike ride provided financial assistance for study costs aimed to help people suffering with a mental illness to gain meaningful employment.
Alf Ianniello, Detmold Group CEO said participating in the bike ride was one of his proudest achievements due to the grueling physical challenge our employees put themselves through, as well as the contribution of funds that we raised for Mind Australia.
In South Africa we are assisting with creating and sponsoring a hand-made paper bag business run by a group of entrepreneurs in a struggling community. This project aims to create jobs and a sustainable income for under-privileged people in this area.
Detpak South Africa has helped with fitting out the work space, donating paper and assisting with the purchasing of raw materials to get the business going. Through this on-going project in Johannesburg, we hope to grow a thriving, self-sustainable small business that will provide a much needed income to these workers and their families.
In China, we sponsor a young man from a local village to attend university through a Heshan government program called “Care and Help our Kids”. The program sponsors teenagers who show good academic ability through high school but are experiencing difficulties in life.
With support from the Detmold Group, this student is now majoring in Industry and Commerce Management, as well as working at the Detmold Heshan factory during university holidays where he is learning about the company and gaining valuable work experience.
